[week four - monday]
[ Xion does not immediately hear about what happened at the Bank/Post Office. She was not around to witness any of it, and given that she's mainly confined to the hotel these days, it's probably some hours before someone comes around that can let her know.
The moment she does hear, of course, is not a good moment.
There aren't words in her vocabulary to describe the feeling in her chest that comes with knowing Shinnosuke and Jason were both so badly hurt, but at least they're both alive. Jason's injury might be the more horrifying of the two.
Given that, and ... some other considerations, Jason is the person she goes to see first. It isn't until late evening, given that she knows they both need time to rest and heal, and also given that even if it's not a far walk, it still takes her longer than it should to get to the clinic.
She also had a lot to think about, in the meantime.
Xion has a small bag hanging off her wrist as she heads over. It's got a few supplies in it, things she thinks might be helpful or just nice to have. Seeing the clinic makes her pause, because - so much has happened here already, hasn't it? And more will continue to happen. It's a grim thought she tries to shake off, because neither boy inside needs that from her right now, and heads in.
Given that Shinnosuke ... seems to be out right now? Hm. Xion will just make a beeline for Jason. ]
Jason... [ Gentle, very quiet, unsure. Is he even awake? ]

"Tries" is the keyword here.
Nothing intelligible comes out, of course. The tongue is vital when it comes to verbal communication, and without it? Jason's still intact vocal cords are pretty darn useless, as far as he's concerned. Xion will get to witness the exact moment his face pinches, remembering what happened this morning, and then Jason will look back down to the ground.
Hi, Xion. Bye, Xion. He would ask to be left alone for a while, but he's not feeling up to charades at the moment.

Hey. [ Soft and warm.
Xion will drop her hands so she can free the bag that's on the crook of her elbow. ]
I brought something.
[ Out she pulls ... an unused rulebook, and two different pens. These she'll set on the bed beside him, and leave her hand on top. ]
I thought you might want something to write with. You don't have to use it, but I wanted you to have it.
[ She loops the bag around her arm once more. ]
... let me stay with you for a while, [ she whispers, with the gentlest smile she's ever given anyone, echoing words he said to her not a few days ago. ]
pip if xion dies in the gunsmith i am going to STRANGLE YOU
... But Xion's also lost someone she cared about. Stumbled across his decapitated head during the investigation, even.
This might be why, with some effort, Jason sighs at her. He slides the rulebook and pen over to his lap, putting it to use immediately by scrawling a brief message on the first page. The writing's pretty shaky and faint, but she'll be able to read the following sentence:]
You'll get bored
:)
So she stands quietly by as he seems to make this decision to communicate, tilting her head slightly. When she reads the sentence...
God, break her (nonexistent?) heart, why don't you?
Xion immediately shakes her head, still smiling a sad and understanding smile. ]
I'll be okay. Why are you even worried about me...? I want to keep you company. You can't try to tell me you wouldn't do the same thing in my place.
[ Still gentle, but with a certain lightness. She can't imagine how he must be feeling and she doesn't want to tax him, but she can't just bring herself to leave him, either. ]

Dead boys deserve no comfort.
Without his usual method of communication, he acutely feels the seconds drag by as he writes his next message. He feels like a nuisance.]
I know. But you already have a lot on your plate.
[He doesn't want to cause her more trouble.]

She shows no signs of impatience while he writes. Just waits, and when she sees what he's written, her expression goes a bit crooked. ]
Too much for me to take time to comfort a friend?
[ Xion shakes her head slowly. She wants to laugh, and nothing about this is even remotely funny. ]
Jason ... I care about you, okay? Even if staying by your side is all I can do ... I'll do it, no matter what.
