Do you have any plans for this character in the game? I do! I plan to canon update her to the end of KH3 at some point, probably just before/at the start of her fight. I want her to grow into the realization that it’s okay to exist; not only that it’s allowed, but that it actually happens.

1. Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them. How would your character act once someone got to know them?

Xion is a kind, caring girl who would give anyone the first impression of being both cheerful and slightly melancholy. She’s hard on herself to the point of being negative, and will describe herself in ways that make her seem… worth less, than others, which is because she believes that herself. But she’s given primarily to sweetness, and will perk up to the point of laughter and teasing with the right prompting. She’s elated to talk about her friends, and the places she’s been, and the things she loves. But she also has a lot of awful, painful secrets that she won’t want to share unless she really trusts whomever she’s speaking to.

2. What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?

Xion is a Replica; a living doll made with someone else’s memories to mimic another person. She’s not actually human, and in reality she is slightly less than a year old despite looking like a young teenager. She’s dislikes this about herself, seeing it as both flaw and failing.

3. What does your character think their flaws are? What do they think their strengths are? What are their actual flaws and strengths?

Having been told so directly by more than one person, Xion thinks of herself as a failure. A weapon that didn’t work. Useless, worthless, a doll cast aside in a battle between greater powers. More than that, she thinks of herself as not having personhood, though she’d not put it that way; she doesn’t believe she deserves to exist, though this is less because she hates herself and more because it is literal. At her current canon point, the best she knows is that her existence literally and physically harms people she loves, as well as Sora, whom she doesn’t yet know; continuing to exist only brings hurt and pain, and she’s kind enough not to want that no matter the cost to herself. She doesn’t think she’s a very good fighter even though fighting is her express purpose. She’s also slightly frightened of her own abilities, having been transformed into a literal monster by her boss, Xemnas. The last thing she wants is to hurt anyone, especially her friends, but she knows she’s capable of it and is somewhat resigned to that fact even if it also scares her. Her strengths, however, come from the same place: her endless compassion and capacity for good. Her willingness to surrender everything, even her own existence, just so others can live and thrive and be happy. Truthfully, Xion is a very strong, incredibly brave young girl who will go to the ends of the universe for those she loves.

4. What is a common misconception other characters have about your character?

Perhaps that she’s timid, or shy, which isn’t really true; she’s more simply reticent due to her nature and her lack of belonging anywhere. Anyone who thinks her an easy target due to her soft heart is dead wrong. She IS a fighter, to her core, and better at it than she thinks or would be willing to believe. She’s also spunkier than she first appears; she’ll tease and joke with the best of them when in the right mood and feeling safe and comfortable. Though she can appear and often be rather melancholy, at her core is a cheerful girl who just wants to have fun with her friends.
