[week four - friday]
[ By the time evening rolls around, Xion is still in the hotel lounge, just kind of chilling out. She can't get up the stairs on her own and has no desire to go to bed this early. But it's not like she can walk around town, either.
It seems someone was kind enough to at least bring her a book, as she's got one in her lap. Pluto snoozes beside her, his ears twitching a little bit as she dreams.
Poor Shinnosuke will get caught out by the fact that he uses a walking stick. It's the sound of it tapping that gets her to look up. Otherwise, she might not have noticed him. ]
Shinnosuke! [ She shuts her book ... then pauses, staring at him narrowly. Not that he can tell. ]
... will you come over here, or do I have to make Pluto come get you?
[ Even in his sleep, one of his ears perks up at his name. ]

That was mean, but it doesn't make you bad. You're not, even if you act like that. Sometimes, I think you really care a lot, even if you don't want to.
[ Pushing people away, always keeping his guard up, along with that hollow smile--
It's struck her before that it's not that he doesn't care. He might actually care too much, and this is all he has. To try and push it all away. ]

Frowning, Shinnosuke stands up.]

She stares at him in surprise, then sighs. ]
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... I'll stop.
[ A beat, and: ]
I just like your company. Is it that strange?

Mm, I don't know. You just ... remind me of one of my friends, I guess. He's a lot like you. You two would probably get along, [ she says with some small humor. ]

That's....! That's mean, [ she giggles breathlessly. ] I'm sure he'd say he wasn't. But, you know, he wasn't always nice. I relied on him a lot, though. He has an awful sense of humor. [ She wrinkles her nose, and her voice is teasing. ] Like someone I know.

She could explain why she loved Axel despite his occasional coldness to her. But that would be a lot like explaining why she cares about Shinnosuke, and she doesn't want to scare him away again. ]

... we did talk. Actually, I went to find him the next day after you talked to me about it. You were right, you know. We may do things differently, but we have the same goal. So ... we were able to patch things up. I really have you to thank for that.
